Article: published in Nature Communications by Fernando Martín, IFIMAC researcher.
An article published in Nature Communications (see Nat. Comm. 2017, 8, 2266, DOI: 10.1038/s41467-017-02437-9), led by R. Dörner (Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main) and F. Martín (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, IFIMAC Condensed Matter Center and IMDEA-Nanoscience) reports on the first visualization on the square of the wave function of the hydrogen molecule.
Although there are several methods for imaging the individual electrons of atoms and molecules, this is the first method that can directly image the correlations between electrons and allow researchers to explore how the properties of electrons depend on one another.
This study paves the way for future time resolved correlation imaging at FELs and laser based X-ray sources.
