I want to be a scientist. An analysis of gender bias in ScienceOn 19th of February, 2018, at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, we celebrated the round table “I want to be a scientist. An analysis of gender bias in Science“, as part of the activities for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Four important and successful academics discussed the obstacles that women face when pursuing a career in Science:

  • Eulalia Pérez Sedeño – Profesora de investigación. Instituto de Filosofía, CSIC.
  • Pilar López Sancho – Profesora de investigación. Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, CSIC.
  • María Blasco Marhuenda – Directora del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas.
  • Carmen Vela – Secretaría de Estado de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación (MINECO).

This event was opened by the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Rafael Garesse, and chaired by Marina Rodríguez Baras, PhD from the Theoretical Physics Department (UAM).
