Diego Fernández de la Pradilla, a PhD student at IFIMAC, participated in the Vermú de Nanociencia 2024 organized by 10alamenos9. His research focuses on the study of how light interacts with matter at the level of atoms and nanostructures. Specifically, he is investigating how the electromagnetic properties of nanoparticles affect the electromagnetic field surrounding an atom and how this affects its dynamic behaviour.
In his video “The quantum vacuum tickles”, Diego talks about the vacuum, which is not so empty according to quantum mechanics, and which is also essential for understanding the interactions between light and matter.
