Researchers from IFIMAC and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid have demonstrated room-temperature spin injection of exciton–polaritons in two-dimensional halide perovskites, marking an important advance towards spin-based polaritonic technologies. Using a monolithic Tamm–plasmon microcavity and polarization-resolved spectroscopy, the team showed that circularly polarized excitation generates spin-polarized polaritons whose ultrafast radiative decay enables partial preservation of the injected spin before relaxation occurs. The results establish layered halide perovskites as a promising platform for room-temperature spinoptronic devices, including chiral lasers, optical switches and spin-controlled photonic circuits, while providing new insights into light–matter interaction in strongly coupled systems.
