The research work, conducted but IFIMAC researchers, presents a protocol for creating entanglement encoded in the photon-number basis through a sequential resonant two-photon excitation process in a three-level system. This approach can be specifically applied to a biexciton-exciton cascade in a semiconductor quantum dot. The resulting photonic state might serve as a valuable resource for secure quantum communication. The multipartite correlations inherent in the generated state offer the potential for an improved rate of secret communication compared to a perfect GHZ state. [Full article]
