Meet Pablo Ares García: ERC Starting Grant Awardee

ERC Starting Grant 2024. This is one of 494 grants awarded by the European Research Council to early-stage researchers (out of 3,474 proposals submitted). These grants assist researchers in launching and developing innovative projects across a range of disciplines, including medicine, physics, social sciences, and humanities.

Pablo’s project, HeaT2Defects, aims to analyse the impact of atomic-level defects in two-dimensional materials, such as graphene, on heat transport. The team will initially investigate the influence of individual defects, including the absence of an atom, on heat transport and develop novel techniques to facilitate these studies. With this knowledge, Pablo and his team will then attempt to utilise these defects to engineer thermal devices.
